Mission of Honor: Ceremony for American Veterans

Love's has a long history of commitment to our military veterans. On May 31, the team at Love's 475 truly embodied that commitment as the Patriot Guard riders rolled into the parking lot in Sweetwater.  

The Patriot Guard riders and the Missing in America Project work together to identify the unclaimed remains of American veterans and provide them with the dignified burial they deserve. It's a worthy cause that Love's general manager, Robert Tygart, was proud to get behind.

"It was an honor to serve those who have served,” said Tygart. “I am so very proud of my team for helping in the 106 degree weather to make this happen.”

Love's was proud to support the Patriot Guard riders with more than a thousand dollars in fuel as they traveled to San Antonio’s National Cemetery to lay eight unclaimed military veterans to rest. The store also provided water, cooling towels and free sandwiches to help the riders combat the heat.

Local residents and Customers crowded the store to show their support and appreciation for the riders and the honored veterans they escorted. Many of the riders expressed their gratitude to the team at Love’s for their giving spirit.

“We are here to show appreciation for these folks, law enforcement and Love’s for doing what they’ve done to help us along the way to San Antonio,” said Hank Bepis, Chaplain of the Patriot Guard Riders. “This burial is well-deserved for the sacrifice that they have made to preserve the freedom’s we enjoy in the United States of America.”

The store team also received a certificate of appreciation in a small ceremony held that afternoon.
