Gemini Motor Transport Driver Earns Phillips 66 Safety Award
Each day, Gemini Motor Transport drivers are tasked with staying safe on the road to keep the company moving. Our drivers don't take the "safety first" motto lightly; everything they do is designed to keep them and others on the road safe. Like Gemini, Phillips 66 puts high importance on safety and rewards those who strive to keep safety a top priority.
Recently, Phillips 66 recognized Gemini driver Joey Malamen for his commitment to safety. Malamen was named the second quarter Phillips 66 Amarillo Terminal Safe Driver for 2018. The award recognizes drivers who follow policies and procedures at the terminal and remain incident-free. Each quarter, the award is given to one driver at each Phillips 66 terminal.
"It was nice to be recognized by Phillips 66 for this quarterly award," Malamen said. "There are many worthy and deserving drivers who go in and out of that terminal on a daily basis. I think part of the recognition reflects on all the Gemini drivers who load there."
Malamen has been a professional driver for 25 years and has been working with Gemini since 2007. He is the second Gemini driver in the Amarillo area to receive the prestigious award.
"Joey has exemplified what Gemini instills in our drivers every day – 'Safety First,'" said Reiff Simmons, regional manager of Gemini. "This is not just something we say, it's something we do every day in all aspects of our jobs. Phillips 66 and Gemini have very high standards, and this award show Joey's dedication to safety."
As part of the honor, Malamen received a company jacket along with a plaque.
Congratulations, Joey!
