Love's breaks ground on new travel stop in Mills County, Iowa

For much of the country, spring is in bloom. Traces of green, red, yellow and various colors that manifest in the form of grass, flowers and more are popping up. However, March in Iowa can mean winter weather lingers. So what do you do when you have an outdoor groundbreaking scheduled to celebrate a new Love's Travel Stop, but there's a mix of rain and snow falling? Officials with the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce got creative and moved the groundbreaking for Love's new store in Mills County, Iowa, located at the intersection of Interstate 29 and U.S. Highway 34, to an indoor location in nearby Pacific Junction, Iowa. Spring colors still decorated the venue in the form of red and yellow heart-shaped cookies. Several local dignitaries and elected officials commented on their excitement for the new location that will bring approximately 50 jobs to Mills County. Attendees included Linda Washburn, executive director of the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce; Larry Winum, Mills County Economic Development Foundation, Inc.; and Mills County Supervisors Richard Crouch, Lonnie Mayberry and Carol Vinton.

Love's district manager Dewayne Porter told the crowd the Mills County Love's will feature a Subway restaurant, more than 50 truck-parking spaces, showers, a Love's Truck Tire Care center, gift items, fresh fruit and vegetables, name-brand snacks and more. The new location is scheduled to open in fall 2017.
