Love's Customers receive special Valentine's treat from OKC Thunder
On a day dedicated to love, it was no surprise that members of the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA team decided to "surprise and delight" Customers at a Love's location. The organization was looking for a venue to do some community outreach on Valentine's Day, and when the option of Love's came up, it turned into a no-brainer.
"Ironically, we're at Love's, and it's Valentine's Day," said Cameron Payne, one of four players to greet Love's Customers and hand out special treats at Love's 123 in northwest Oklahoma City.
Payne was joined by Victor Oladipo, Enes Kanter and Jerami Grant. They were greeted by Love's Customers with smiles and cheers a-plenty. The heroes' welcome didn't go unnoticed by the players.
"It's a great feeling just to see how excited everybody gets, especially the kids," Grant said.
The visit was made possible by a partnership between the Thunder and Love's, and it came on our annual "Share the Love" day. Each year, on Valentine's Day, corporate employees at Love's volunteer at various organizations across Oklahoma City. It's another opportunity for us to give back to the community, a commitment shared by the Thunder as they made a surprise visit to our store.
The players took photos with fans and signed autographs, and there were many memorable moments with kiddos, too.
"Sometimes it's about more than just basketball," Oladipo said of the team's interaction with the community. "We're just turning a rainy day into a sunny day."
He and his teammates did just that, even spending some time behind the counter, handing out $20 gift cards and Hershey's Kisses.
Payne summed it up best: "It's a blessing. Valentine's Day is a day for giving love to your loved ones."
