Baylor University caps off second Dance Marathon
Baylor University For The Kids was established in the spring of 2014 to support their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital in Temple, Texas. After the Dance Marathon Oct. 15 and finishing off its second full year of fundraising, team members reflected on how far they've come and look to the future.
"It's been incredible to see the growth of this movement among the Baylor community in the last year, and to see what we could accomplish with the resources that Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores provided us," said Jack Olmstead, an executive member of For The Kids. "The passion, the preparation, and the outpouring that this organization has for supporting the families at the hospital leave me encouraged about the future of For The Kids. I'm so happy to have been part of it."
With the support from Love's, Baylor For The Kids organized a Dance Marathon that built on the success of the first year. Baylor Equestrian, Women's Basketball, and Women's Volleyball teams all made appearances to meet the visiting families and hang out with the dancers, as well as activities and games to engage and involve new participants. Fundraising was a success for the day. For The Kids met and surpassed its goal for the year, revealing a final a fundraising total of $10,952!
"I'm so proud of how hard we pushed to meet and surpass our goal," said Sadie Shiffmacher, director of fundraising for Baylor For The Kids. "Even now after the Dance Marathon, we still have donations coming in! We've clearly tapped into something special within the Baylor community and can't wait to see what the future holds!"
Love's is proud to sponsor Dance Marathon events in multiple states. It's all to help make miracles happen for CMN Hospitals.
