Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, held its second annual Creighton University Dance Marathon (CUDM) on October 29, raising $47,847 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
The planning for this event began last fall with an executive board of college students dedicated to the kids and families treated at their local CMN Hospital, Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha. With nearly 600 participants, Creighton students danced for 12 hours from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. alongside kids and families from the region. During the event there were performances from Omaha Zoo animals, Hawaiian dancing, A Capella, pumpkin decorating, face painting and Zumba.
After a successful first year, CUDM was awarded "Best New Dance Marathon" at CMN Hospital's annual Dance Marathon Leadership Conference. In their second year, CUDM received more than $5,000 in sponsorship funds from Love's Travel Stops. The generous gift from Love's allowed CUDM to invest back into their event by purchasing their much-needed stage, sound equipment, lighting, credit card machines, t-shirts and more! Their investment resulted in a significant improvement in event retention, with more students staying the whole 12 hours than ever before.
Love's funds also directly went to support the "family room" at CUDM. This room provided a quiet space for patients and families to enjoy refreshments, watch movies, and take a break from dancing.
Love's is delighted to sponsor Dance Marathon events in multiple states. It's all to help make miracles happen for CMN Hospitals.
