Buescher among group of exciting young drivers in NASCAR for 2016
Jeff Gordon parked his race car for the final time last season, and Tony Stewart has declared 2016 his final go-round in NASCAR's Sprint Cup series. Much of the focus this season will be on a crop of the most hotly anticipated young guns in many a year.
Chris Buescher is among those exciting drivers, and he'll be in the #34 Love's Ford Fusion for Front Row Motorsports come Sunday in the Daytona 500.
"It's pretty wild running my first Daytona 500. It was four years ago I was running an ARCA race here. We drove eight hours down in a 15-passenger van to be able to race at the big track. And now we get to start in the Daytona 500. It's been a wild ride, and it happened very quickly. But it's very awesome to be here and have the opportunity right now. And happy to have a great partner like Love's on board with us," Buescher said.
The last remaining question before Sunday is: From which position will he start when the green flag drops at 1:30 p.m. ET?
That will be decided as part of the Can-Am Duels on Thursday. Buescher is slated to race in the first duel, scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. To get you in the spirit for those qualifying duels and the race itself, here are some photos from pole qualifying this past weekend.
