Love's corporate teams 'Share the Love' again with community
Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores' tradition of taking as many corporate employees as possible and helping the Oklahoma City metro area continued with much success this year. Appropriately, around Valentine's Day, dozens of employees spend a few hours volunteering at organizations that benefit the people of central Oklahoma.
This year, the featured organizations of Share the Love were the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, Moore Food Resource Center, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County.
The day started with more than 130 employees at the Regional Food Bank and 20 more at the Moore Food Resource Center. An additional 20 employees covered an afternoon shift at the Food Resource Center. While the location differed, the goal was the same. These employees were helping fight hunger in central Oklahoma.
The teams in Moore provided 6,150 meals to 85 families. At the Regional Food Bank, the volunteers packaged 2,280 bags of pinto beans and 7,698 backpack sacks of food for children. That's an equivalent of 22,190 meals. For those who aren't doing the math at home, that's 28,340 meals in less than eight hours of work.
To close the day, more than 20 employees headed south from the main corporate campus. Their destination was the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County. They spent a couple of hours playing and interacting with children from first grade through high school. From basketball to dodgeball, arts and crafts to light-hearted conversations, there was no shortage of activity.
Share the Love will be back next year, and it's guaranteed to be a good time. If you need proof, check out the pictures below courtesy Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
