Congressman visits newest Love’s Travel Stops location in Guthrie
A member of Oklahoma's congressional delegation visited one of his state's newest travel stops on Friday to show his support for the travel stop industry and its positive impact on the community.
U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas (R-Okla.) took a tour of Love's 604 in Guthrie, praising the new location as the result of a strong free market in action.
"Part of my job as a member of Congress representing all 32 counties of the 3rd Congressional District is to see what's going on, to see how we can help and encourage those things. From a federal perspective, when there are things that make business more difficult, we want to try and do something about that -- but this is just a very pleasant, positive stop that shows great progress in the Guthrie community, and I like seeing my neighbors at work," Lucas told the Guthrie News Page.
The third and newest Love’s location in Guthrie added approximately 60 jobs to Logan County.
Members of the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO) also took the tour and visited with the congressman. NATSO is a trade association that works with truck stop and travel plaza members across the country.
"We are grateful to have had an opportunity to visit with a representative so attuned to our industry and passionate about the issues facing it," said David Fialkov, who is Vice President, Government Relations for NATSO.
