Back-to-School Brigade brings smiles to military families
With the school semester fast-approaching, kids and families are gathering everything they need to make the schoolyear a success.
Through Love's continued support, Operation Homefront held a Back-to-School Brigade event at Rose State College in Oklahoma City Aug. 11, which provided backpacks, school supplies and more to kids of military families.
Love's employees were delighted to stuff backpacks with supplies and help hundreds of joyful kids and parents pick out their favorite book bags.
"Helping support military families and seeing kids prosper is so rewarding," said Aaron Allen, staff accountant for Love's. "Military personnel put their lives on the line for us, and this is a small way to give back for everything that they do."
Organizations like Operation Homefront speak to many of the employees at Love's because of their military backgrounds.
"As a veteran, I was proud to support military families and see the excitement on a child's face to receive something new," said Kerry Sylvester, litigation paralegal for Love's.
Positive sentiments ring true with other employees who have military ties.
"Being a spouse of a military member, it means a lot that Love's contributes and appreciates the military service members and their families," said Jessica Tritten, merchandising projects specialist for Love's. "I'm glad I volunteered. It was exciting to see the kids' faces light up."
By donating and volunteering, Love's helped lessen the burden for numerous military families. It was a small sign of appreciation to all of the men and women who serve our nation.
