Love’s Travel Stops donates to Operation Homefront

The holidays are a special time for each of us to give thanks, spend time with family and friends and give back. 

Along with the many ways Love’s Travel Stops gave back this year, the company was delighted to increase its donation to Operation Homefront, a nonprofit that provides short-term critical assistance, long-term stability and ongoing support programs for military families.

Most of this donation went to a program called Holiday Meals for Military. This program provides and distributes meal kits for military families nationwide. The remaining donation will meet military families’ greatest needs throughout the year such as financial assistance, housing, food, etc.

On Thursday, Dec. 10, dozens of Love’s employees volunteered at a Holiday Meals for Military event to fill food bags, decorate kids’ stations, walk with families as they shopped, carry groceries and more at the Reed Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

 “I loved volunteering for Operation Homefront because it gave me the opportunity to meet and help others in our community during the holiday season,” POS Help Desk Technician 1 for Love's Scott McClure said. “This was a great opportunity for Love’s to give back to our service members and pay it forward during a time of need. I am proud to be a member of the Love’s team.”

It was a beautiful sight to see military service men and women and their families leave with smiling faces and resources to make their holidays special.

“Their appreciation was evident through smiles and some tears,” Community Relations Administrator for Love's Courtney Franklin said. “The best part was helping a new father with diapers for his newborn son. His wife had given birth only six hours earlier, and she reminded him to come down to the Reed Center to get items. He was extremely grateful for the baby bundles that were provided!”

By volunteering, Love’s employees helped make the season a little more enjoyable for numerous military families. It was a small token of appreciation and a way to say “thank you” to all of the men and women who serve our country.
