5 reasons why Love's Travel Stops has the best internship program
Love's provides the ultimate internship experience
This past summer I had the privilege of interning with Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores. Which location you ask? The corporate headquarters in Oklahoma City. Before I began my internship, I knew very little about Love’s. I wasn't sure what my summer would look like. Turns out Love’s is an amazing company! It is so much more than a travel stop. Love’s provided me with the best internship experience I could ever imagine. The key question is what separates Love’s from all other internships?
1. You do real work that impacts the company.
Are you simply fetching coffee and making copies? Not a chance. How about working with finances and creating proposals for senior management? Absolutely. That’s what Love’s is all about. Interns impact the company, too. You gain real-world experience that you will apply to the rest of your career. Your work truly plays a vital role in the company.
2. You work in one of the fastest-growing cities in America.
Oklahoma City is a wonderful place to work, play and live. Oklahoma City is not just home to the Thunder, it is home to so much more, too. Oklahoma City offers everything you’re looking for in an internship city. With an urban renaissance, shimmering riverfront, burgeoning art scene and world-class museums, the flavors of the world and the comforts of home can be found in the same city. Don’t just take it from me; Forbes named Oklahoma City as one of the best places for young professionals to live.
3. You give back to the community.
When you intern at Love’s, you don’t simply become a part of the company, you also become a part of the community. Whether you visit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma or The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County, you make a real impact on thousands of Oklahomans.
4. You work with amazing people.
Love’s is a family, and starting on day one, you become part of that family. Everyone is kind and willing to help. “There are two ways of exerting one’s strength: one is pushing down, the other is pulling up,” Booker T. Washington once said. Every employee will pull you up no matter the situation. Working with such wonderful people has taught me the importance of teamwork and how to interact with a plethora of people.
5. You have fun!
Love’s is not your average internship; it is THE ultimate internship experience. You work hard, but you have fun at the same time. I worked extremely hard but I also had the time of my life. No other company let's you experience the Oklahoma River or take you to an Oklahoma City Dodgers game. No other company has the talent and great people that Love’s has.
Working at Love’s this past summer has been one of the best experiences of my life. It has taught me so much about myself as well as the corporate world. I can say with confidence that I grew as a person and professional. If you want to work hard and reap the benefits of your hard work then I highly recommend applying for Love’s summer internship program.
